South India Heritage Tour

Day 01 : Chennai
On arrival Chennai airport meet and greet by our local representative and transfer to hotel and late in the afternoon proceed for a half day city tour of Chennai. Chennai is one of the four major metropolitan cities of India and it is the capital of the of Tamilnadu and it is also called as gate way to south India Visit St George Fort, Marina Beach Parthasarati temple, Birla Planetarium, Valluvar Kottam, National Art and government Meseum, Guindy National Park, Snake Park, Anna Zoological Park and Theosophical society etc evening return back to hotel and over night stay at hotel.

Day 02 : Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram
After morning breakfast check out hotel and proceed to Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram, or Mamallapuram, was the chief seaport of the Pallavas who ruled over much of South India from as early as the first century B.C to the eighth century A.D. Mahabalipuram is 58 km away from Chennai on the way visit Kanchipuram It is generally known as the city of thousand temples is one of the seven holy cities of the Hindus Visit Ekambareswar Temple. Vaikuntha Perumal Temple, Varadaraja Temple, Kailasnatha Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple etc on arrival Mahabalipuram check in beach resort and rest of the day is free at Mahabilipuram to relax on the beach shores and over night stay at Mahabaipuram.
Day 03 : Mahabalipuram
After morning breakfast proceed for a local tour of Mahabalipuram Visit Shore temple, Arjuna's Penance, Krishna Mandapa, Mahishasurmardini Cave, Varaha Mandapa and Mandapams etc evening return back to beach resort and over night stay at Mahabalipuram beach resort.

Day 04 : Mahabalipuarm - Pondicherry
After morning breakfast check out hotel and proceed to Pondicherry on arrival Pondicherry check in hotel and over night stay at hotel.

Day 05 : Pondicherry
After morning breakfast at Pondicherry hotel proceed for a half day city tour of Pondicherry. It is an amalgamation of all the former French settlements, which were handed over to the Indian Government in November, 1954 Visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram: founded in 1926 and based on the teachings of philosopher poet Aurobindo Ghose and then visit Promenade Auroville, Pondicherry, Museum etc and evening return back to hotel and rest of the day is free and over night stay at pondicherry.

Day 06 : Pondicherry - Thanjavor
After Morning breakfast check out hotel and proceed to visit Thanjavor.Thanjavor was the capital of the Chola Kings, this small town of Thanjavur is famous today for its beautifully architecture temples and the amazing bronze works it creates. It is centre for the classical arts like dance and music on arrival check in hotel and later proceed to visit Thanjavur palace,Sri brihadeeswara temple, Art Gallery, Hall of museum ,Schwartz church etc and evening return back to hotel and over night stay at hotel.

Day 07 : Thanjavore - Madurai
After morning breakfast check out hotel and proceed to Madurai the name Madurai means sweet place. Sweet because nectar from Siva's hair fell on the place. It is also a town of sculptures and architectures On arrival Madurai check in hotel and later proceed for a local tour of Madurai Visit Sri Meenakshi sundareshwara temple, the temple art museum, puthu Mandapam, Raya gopuram etc and evening return back to hotel and rest of the day is free for shopping and other activities and over night stay at Madurai.
Day 08 : Madurai - Rameshwaram
After morning breakfast check out hotel and proceed to Rameshwarama the most sacred temple town of India is an island hallowed by the epic Ramayana, where Lord Rama is said to have visited before going into battle of Srilanka. Legend has it that Lord Rama sent Hanuman to Mount Kailash to bring a Lingam for worship when he set foot after defeating Ravana. As Hanuman did not return when the auspicious hour was approaching, Sita made a sand Lingam so that worship could be performed in time, which is where the present day Ramanatha Swamy Temple stands close to sea on the eastern side of the island. One of the twelve Jyotirlingam shrines is also well known for its magnificent corridors and the massive sculptured pillars lining them on arrival check in hotel and later proceed for a local tour of Rameshwaram visit Ramanathaswamy Temple Dhanushkodi Agnitheertham Gandamadana Parvatham etc evening return back to hotel and over night stay at Rameshwaram.
