Mumbai

The
island city Mumbai is located along the bank of Arabian Sea on the West
Coast of India. It is the capital of the state Maharashtra and due to its
port it is also an important trading and shipping centre. The city also has
a large number of tourist places including some enchanting beaches and are
popular evening hangouts.
Mumbai Beaches
As a coastal city, Mumbai offers a number of beaches along its western
coast which are excellent for beach holidays. Some beaches in the list of
Mumbai are :
» Marine Drive - Also known as the Queen's Necklace,
the Marine Drive is located in the central Mumbai. It is the most colorful
place of the city and remains crowded in the evening by local people and
vendors.
» Chowpatty Beach (GirGaum) - Located at the
northern end of Marine Drive, this sandy beach is a must visit tourist place
in Mumbai. It attracts tourist and local people on a large scale, especially
during weekends and holidays. A food plaza near the beach offers a range of
food items including the popular bhelpuri, chaat, kulfi, and coconut water.
The beach is also a great place to witness the annual Ganesh Chaturthi
Festival during the month of August and September. Here a large number of
idols are emerged on the last day of the festival.
» Juhu Beach - Located 18 km north of
the city centre, the Juhu Beach is one of the most visited beaches in India
along the shore of Arabian Sea. It is also a major venue for Bollywood's
film shootings. One can also enjoy shopping and eating in various stalls
located near the beach. Its a popular weekend spot and also offers horse and
donkey rides.
» Marve & Manori Beach

Located
about 19 miles from Mumbai, these beaches are two of the popular picnic
spots in Mumbai.
Other Beaches
Besides the above mentioned beaches, the city has some other beaches
including the Versova Beach, Aksa Beach, Gorai Beach and Madh Island.
Accommodation
All the beaches in Mumbai are combined with some excellent beach resorts
ranging from luxury to economic. Some major beach resorts in Mumbai are the
Ganpatipule Beach Resort and the Beach Resort of Murud Janjira, which
provide ample accommodation options.

cities of India and world by air, rail and road.
» Air - The city has an international and a domestic
airport named the Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport. Regular flights from this
airport links the city with all metros and some parts of the world.
» Rail - Mumbai Central, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and
Dadar Stations are the major railheads of the city. These are well connected
to other major cities of India.
» Road - A well connected road network connects the
city with other parts of India.
