Kerala is an all year beach holiday destination but the best time to visit
its beaches is from September to March.
Kerala Beaches
With a coastline of about 600km along the Arabian Sea, Kerala has some of
the finest and most charming beaches in the world. Its palm fringed sandy
beaches offers a delightful beach holiday destination to all the beach
lovers. Numerous beaches of Kerala are renowned for its blue water and
various water sports activities. Some of the main beaches in the coast of

» Kovalam Beach - Kovalam is a small
village situated on the Malwar Coast has three fabulous beaches named the
Lighthouse, the Hawah, and the Samudra Beach. The Lighthouse beach in its
southern part, is the most popular among foreign tourists. The beach also
provides Ayurvedic health resorts, swimming pool and several beach resorts
for tourist accommodation.
» Marari Beach - The name of the beach is derived
from the name of the village Mararikulam - a local fishing village. It
offers a long sand beaches covered with swaying palm trees, where one can
experience the traditional life of Kerala.

Kumarakom Beach - Its a small village and is a cluster of little islands
and is an ideal destination for beach holidays in South India. It comes
under the Kuttanad region of Kerala. During the beach holiday one can also
visit the famous bird sanctuary located here.
» Alappuzha Beach - It is another popular hangout
and beach holiday destination in the district of Allappuzha, Kerala. Its
vast lakes, rivers and green surroundings makes it a wonderland of Kerala.
The Vijaya Beach Park and an old lighthouse is other attractions near the
beach.
» Varkala Beach - Located in the district of
Thiruvananthapuram, it is one of the most popular beach resort in Kerala.
Varkala is also known for its spa, high cliffs and rich mineral springs.
Strolling along the beach and soaking under the sun are some of the beach
activity.
» Kappad Beach - It is another important tourist
place as it was here in 1498 Vasco da Gama landed in India. This pleasant
beach is also known as Kappakadavu and is the most interesting tourist
place. The beach also provide facilities for beach games, swimming, fishing,
massage centres and various beach resorts for accommodation.
Other Beaches
Besides the above mentioned beaches, there are several other beaches
offering excellent beach holiday spots. These are : Beypore Beach, Bekal
Beach, Fort Kochi Beach, Thirumullavaram beach, Thangassery Beach, Tanur
Beach, Payyambalm Beach, Somatheeram Beach and Muzhappilangad Beach.

being a popular tourist destination in India is well connected to other
parts of the country by air, rail and road.
» Air - Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode are
the three airports in the state. Thiruvananthapuram is also an important
international gateway of South India with direct flights from West Asia,
Srilanka and Maldives.
» Rail - Indian Railway links Kerala with Mumbai,
New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and other major cities of India by regular
express trains.
» Road - A good network of roads connect most of the
places of the state and other parts of India.
